SnipIt 1.0 Beta 11

Current beta

• Long screen recordings upload again. Videos now go straight to the delivery network instead of through snipit.app, so length is no longer the limit — a 1.7 GB, 72-minute recording uploads successfully. Uploads resume after a dropped connection and can be paused.
• SnipIt no longer asks for your macOS login password when it starts. Your account key moves out of the Keychain by itself, and you stay signed in.
• Pause and resume a recording. The paused time is not in the finished video, and audio stays in sync across the join.
• Uploads show speed, how much is left and an estimate, with progress in the menu bar and in Capture Vault.
• A video that is still encoding says so — in the app and on its share page — instead of looking finished.
• Captures removed by the retention setting go to the Trash instead of being erased permanently.
• The retention setting no longer sits on a value missing from its own list. Captures are kept for six months by default, and one year is now an option.
• A share link for a video that no longer exists is no longer shown as working; Capture Vault offers to upload it again.
• A private video tells visitors it is private instead of showing a "not found" page.
• Messages are no longer lost in silence if you declined notifications — anything that matters is shown in the app itself.
• First-run setup asks for the microphone and for permission to install updates, explains why, and both stay optional.

• Free accounts can record at 1080p again — the recorder was still assuming Free meant 720p and greying out the quality your plan includes.
• SnipIt windows are now genuinely excluded from a recording; previously any of them left on screen was filmed.
• Opening the recorder no longer hangs with a half-drawn panel when an iPhone is nearby.
• A recording bar with the elapsed time and a Stop button, so ending a recording is one click. It does not appear in the recording.
• Recordings show a real preview frame in Capture Vault instead of a generic camera icon.
• Capture Vault groups older captures by month, and regroups about a hundred times faster.
• The full-size button in the Capture Vault preview now opens the capture large.

• The screenshot editor has been rebuilt around a docked inspector, with a captioned tool rail and properties that follow whatever you have selected.
• Annotations gained background fill, drop shadow, font family, text background and text padding.
• Inspector controls that looked active but did nothing — weight, fill and shadow — now apply to the selected annotation.
• The text tool no longer stacks words on top of each other or clips lines, and text sits centred in its padded box.
• Zoom past fit and the canvas can be moved: drag the scrollbars, or hold Space to grab the image and pan it.
• The eyedropper now samples the flattened image, so it can pick colours out of your own annotations.
• Scroll Snip in Auto mode scrolls smoothly in small steps instead of jumping a screen at a time, and each section appears exactly once.
• Scroll Snip in Manual mode measures a sticky header or footer from how the page actually moves, and removes it.
• Scroll Snip now asks you to scroll again rather than saving a join it cannot prove, so a capture is never quietly missing content.
• Free recordings use the quality your plan actually allows, read from your account — Free is 1080p, not 720p.

• Universal build — SnipIt now runs natively on Intel and Apple silicon Macs.
• Rebuilt first-run onboarding into clear, guided steps that ask only for what is needed, when it is needed.
• Fixed the About update check so it resolves on its own instead of appearing to hang on Checking for Updates.

• Sign in with SnipIt connects your account in one step from the app; pasting an API key by hand still works.
• Redesigned Account preferences with a clear signed-in state, your plan and its included features, and a copyable key.
• Uploads now prompt you to sign in instead of failing silently when no account is connected.

• Free and Pro access is now verified against the package assigned on snipit.app.
• Free recordings stop safely at 5 minutes and use 720p quality.
• Pro unlocks unlimited recording length, 1080p, 4K, Native, and unlimited hosted videos.
• Account settings can validate an existing API key or open SnipIt account registration.
• A recently verified plan remains available during ordinary short connectivity interruptions.

• Signed in-app updates continue preserving SnipIt settings and approved macOS permissions.
